Renne, head of government workers' union in Montgomery, charged with assault

The head of the general government employees' union in Montgomery County faces assault charges after his wife said he pointed a revolver at her in their Frederick County home and threatened to kill her, officials said Thursday. Gino Renne, who was identified as Fiorigi Renne in law enforcement records, was charged with two counts of assault and one count of reckless endangerment, said Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, a spokeswoman for the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. On May 15, shortly after 9:30 p.m., a sheriff's deputy was called to a business near Renne's home, where his wife reported that Renne had assaulted her, Bailey said. The deputy went to their house, arrested Renne and took possession of the gun, Bailey said.

Reached by phone, Renne said the matter was moved from District Court to Circuit Court on Thursday through "mutual agreement by both parties," but he declined to discuss the specifics.

"The matter is in court. We're just going to let it go through the court system," he said. SOURCE: Washington Post
