Maryland senators passed a bill to legalize medical marijuana, but the measure is not expected to pass the House of Delegates.
Senators voted 35-to-12 Saturday to allow pharmacies to distribute marijuana to patients with a doctor's prescription.
"We think this bill offers the most carefully crafted medical marijuana law in the country," said State Sen. Jamie Raskin (Montgomery County-D.). It offers legal protection and safe medical access to patients who are desperately in need and it takes every possible measure to prevent abuses."
